Kevin Vertefeuille, CPA, CMA, CA
RETIRED PARTNER
In 1992, Kevin Vertefeuille decided to flex his entrepreneurial muscles and venture out on his own. Having worked in senior positions with provincial governments and well-known international and national accounting firms, he knew there was a niche in the market for a mid-sized accounting firm that could offer the expertise and bench strength that business owners and corporations needed but was more nimble and responsive than mega-firms. He founded the business based on his extensive background in taxation and audit and his philosophical desire to partner with business clients.
As a well-balanced sort of fellow, Kevin now spends much of his time in Victoria serving the interests of BC-based clients and pursuing his interests in art, architecture, travel and motorsports.
Jodi Rempel, CPA, CA
MANAGING PARTNER
If you think Jodi Rempel fits the mould of the stereotypical accountant, well, you’d be half right. She has all the discipline, smarts, knowledge and attention to detail that you’d expect from a Managing Partner.
In her years with the company (joining in 2004, becoming partner in 2007) Jodi has brought her clients the benefits of her significant experience in accounting, assurance, tax planning and consulting services. Her strong work ethic and unrelenting commitment to her clients has earned her a solid and well-respected reputation. But she’s also a firm believer in achieving that ever-so-elusive work/life balance.
When she isn’t consulting with clients, you’ll find her deep into a good book, travelling, working out or somewhere out on the roller derby circuit where she is part of a ladies team that has garnered several Canadian and North American honours. Oh, and she can deadlift more than the weight of her husband. So large amounts of files are no problem.
Alexander Glydon, CPA, In-Depth Tax
PARTNER
Alex joined VR in August 2018, wrote and passed the CFE in September 2019 and was fully designated in January 2021. He is now taking the In-Depth Tax Program through CPA Canada in order to specialize in tax solutions for our clients.
He has accomplished a lot in a short amount of time and is known as a jack-of-all-trades in the office. Alex is constantly thinking about each client’s specific situation and what options they might have to maximize their cash flow. Although he is early in his career, he has had exposure in many different areas/industries. And he uses this knowledge to help clients every day.
When Alex isn’t finding creative solutions for clients, you’ll find him trash-talking at a staff table tennis match, playing rugby, hockey, squash and walking his dog Carter. And if you’re looking for a great meme, Alex is your guy.
Eaton Xing, CPA, CGA
ACCOUNTANT
With over 17 years of experience, Eaton has worked through a lot of financial challenges for clients. Eaton always has your best interests in mind and combined with his patience, he is highly requested by clients year after year. He enjoys tax work and prepares complex financial statements and corporate tax returns for our larger groups of clients.
Eaton is always game to try new things, whether that is at home with his daughter or at work. He is by far, our most dynamic table tennis player. He uses his entire body to try and reach every shot. He also surprises us quite frequently with his random “fun facts” about things he has been reading.
Kristin De Ocampo
STAFF ACCOUNTANT - CPA STUDENT
Kristin has wanted to be an accountant since she was 16! She started as an administrator at VR in November 2019 and officially started her accounting career with the team in January 2021. Kristin is a team player who solves problems in a practical and logical manner and is always looking for ways to improve processes to take better care of clients.
If you challenge Kristin to a table tennis or foosball game get ready for some competitive spirit! Outside of the office she likes to hang out with family and friends, watch movies, go on walks or just stay at home to relax. She also has an identical twin sister which is convenient as we’ve always said we wish we had two of her!
Allison Ng
STAFF ACCOUNTANT - CPA STUDENT
Allison joined the team in October 2021 and has enjoyed learning more about our clients by preparing various financial statements, corporate tax returns, personal tax planning and working with the team to answer client questions. She is willing to help on any project and can adapt to new tasks with the best of them.
In her time at VR, she has also improved her table tennis game. If you’re on the other side of the net expect some well-placed shots and one-liners coming your way. And when she’s not at work you can find her reading, hiking, or enjoying a true-crime documentary.
Sisi Zhu
STAFF ACCOUNTANT - CPA STUDENT
Sisi’s journey into accounting began with an elective course in high school, where she discovered a love for balanced financial statements. She joined the VR team in October 2023 and is very excited to work through the CPA program. Sisi loves to learn and never fails to surprise us with great questions as she puzzles through the tax returns.
Beyond spreadsheets, Sisi finds joy in spirited table tennis battles with team members. And outside of the office, she embraces outdoor adventures like hiking and badminton games with friends (this explains how she quickly picked up table tennis). At home her furry companion Bobby, a beloved bunny, steals the spotlight as her playful sidekick. As winter comes, you can bet she will be cozied up with hot pot.
Kaela Leong
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
With a background in marketing, Kaela is dipping her toes in the world of accounting when she joined the VR team in the summer of 2022. As the administrative assistant, she is always prepared to answer client’s questions and support the others in the office with bookkeeping, organizing, and problem-solving.
When she’s away from her keyboard, she is usually binge watching her favourite tv shows or is lost in a good book. She is the ultimate cheerleader when it comes to the friendly competition of table tennis and foosball in the office.
